Spring has nearly sprung and budding gardeners will delight in getting their hands dirty in this exploration of ecology! This class is designed to teach students about the complex and fascinating ecosystem to which we, as humans, also belong and from which we draw our food. We will grow our own food, learn about nutrition, and investigate soils, weather, insects and birds. Using the working classroom garden at Springhurst, we will examine the light, soil and life-cycles of plants. Classes will take place both indoors and out.
Class Notes: Requires sitting and listening time. Involves handling food, soil and other substances. Hands will get dirty! Class will move from indoors to outdoors. Group-based and individual activity. May be loud and noisy at times.
